How Reader Reviews Help Authors

Amazon reader reviews are critical for the success of books and authors. When you’re browsing for a new book, you probably check out the star rating and read a few reviews before deciding to buy. You’re far from the only one. Even more important, the number and star rating of reviews help boost a book’s visibility in Amazon’s search results and recommendation algorithms, so more people see the book and consider buying it. Then there’s the benefit of valuable feedback that isn't from friends and neighbors.
The number of reviews counts for the book’s success as well as the rating. Even if you’re not ecstatic about it, take the time to write a review pointing out the book’s strengths and weaknesses. I’m posting this for myself and other authors, especially independent ones. If you have read The New Middle Way, please post a review. And do the same for that other book you recently read.
